Hillary Smith, cellist, has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad as soloist and chamber musician. In addition to performing as soloist with orchestras and in solo recitals, she has also performed for live television and radio broadcasts such as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, America’s Got Talent, The Ellen Show, LACMA’s Sundays Live concert series, and KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Currently residing in Los Angeles, Hillary records regularly for film and television. Recent projects include Avatar: The Way of Water, Encanto, and Oppenheimer. In 2020, Hillary was the featured cellist in composer Kris Bowers’s arrangement of “Strange” for the hit series Bridgerton.  Their rendition of “Strange” made Billboard’s top 10 tracks for a TV series and currently has over 30 million streams on Spotify. In addition to her work for TV and film, Hillary has also recorded for top bands and artists including The Beatles, Michael Bublé, The Backstreet Boys, and Weezer.

An avid chamber musician, Hillary has been selected as a finalist in two of the country’s most prestigious chamber music competitions: The Coleman Chamber Music Competition and the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. Other chamber music highlights include a quartet residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and frequent performances on the Getty Museum concert series ‘Sonnets & Sonatas.’ She is currently recording an album of new music for cello and piano with pianist and composer Nikos Syropoulos which will be released in the Spring of 2024.
